New slabs, built from the ground up
Concrete slab contractors in Lake Elsinore
We pour new concrete slabs and pads in Lake Elsinore for patios, sheds, equipment and additions, and every one goes down on a compacted base.
A slab is only as good as the ground under it. Before any concrete arrives we strip out roots and other organic material, compact the soil, set the forms, and add a vapor barrier and reinforcement where the slab calls for them.
Then we pour, finish the surface, cut the joints and cure it, so what you get is a flat, solid slab that stays where we put it.
Pick the job
Slabs and pads we pour
We pour patio slabs, shed and equipment pads, garage floors and slabs for additions, the everyday “flatwork” a home or a business needs.
Each card below names a slab and what it usually carries:
-
Patio slabs
A backyard slab off the back door or under a patio cover, poured in the finish you choose.
-
Shed and equipment pads
A level pad for a shed, a hot tub, a generator or the boat trailer in the side yard.
-
Garage floors
An enclosed slab that goes down on a vapor barrier so ground moisture stays below it.
-
Slabs for additions
The floor slab for a new room or an extension, built on a compacted base and a vapor barrier.
What a slab costs
How a concrete slab is priced
A slab is priced by the square foot, and its thickness, the reinforcement, the site preparation and how easy the site is to reach set where your price lands.
Typical range in Lake Elsinore
$4 to $8
per square foot
A concrete slab in Lake Elsinore typically runs $4 to $8 per square foot. Your number depends on your site, and we quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after.

These are the four things that move a slab's price inside that range:
- Thickness
Flatwork usually runs 4 to 6 inches thick. A pad that carries a vehicle or equipment needs more concrete than a patio.
- Reinforcement
Fiber or steel in the slab adds strength under heavy loads, and it adds material and labor to the job.
- Site preparation
Excavation, leveling, clearing out roots and compacting the base all affect the final price.
- Access
An open driveway is quicker to pour than a backyard reached through a side gate.
From bare ground to cured slab
Subgrade, vapor barrier and reinforcement
We clear out organic material, compact the subgrade, lay a vapor barrier under enclosed slabs, place the reinforcement and pour.
Most slabs that settle or crack early failed underneath first, so the work below the surface gets as much care as the finish on top. Every slab we pour goes through these steps:
- Clear the ground
Roots, sod and other organic material come out. Left under a slab, they decay, leave voids and let it settle.
- Compact the subgrade
The soil is compacted with vibratory equipment to at least 95% “Proctor density”, the standard for a firm, packed base.
- Set the forms
Forms fix the slab's shape, its edges and the slope that sends water away from the house.
- Lay the vapor barrier
Enclosed slabs, like a garage floor or an addition, sit on a 6 to 10 mil poly vapor barrier with lapped seams.
- Place the reinforcement
Fiber reinforcement adds tensile strength and makes a slab less likely to crack under heavy loads. Wire mesh used to cut costs usually sinks to the bottom of the pour, where it does little.
- Pour, finish and cure
We pour and finish the surface, cut the control joints and spray on a “curing compound” to hold in moisture while the concrete gains strength.
Under a finished slab
Cut through an enclosed slab and this is what you find, top to bottom:
- Finished surfaceBroom, smooth or textured
- Concrete and reinforcementUsually 4 to 6 inches
- Compacted subgradeAt least 95% Proctor
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association publishes industry guidance on mix strength and placement.

More concrete slab questions
The questions below sit right next to a new slab, and each one points to the page that answers it in full.
Where a slab cracks and why joints are cut
Shrinkage cracks form at the “control joints”, which are cut into the slab as planned weak points, instead of wandering across it. The American Concrete Institute sets the standards on joints and curing.
Coating a garage floor slab
A new garage slab can be coated once it has cured for about 28 days, because fresh concrete needs that long before a coating can bond to it. We pour the slab first and the coating comes after.
Slab cost questions
Questions owners ask before they call
How much does a 20x20 concrete slab cost?
A slab that size is priced by the square foot, and a concrete slab in Lake Elsinore typically runs $4 to $8 per square foot. Thickness, reinforcement, site prep and access set where yours lands, and we quote the whole job free once we have seen the site.
How much would a 2000 sq ft concrete slab cost?
A slab that big is still priced by the square foot, but the ground under it matters more: excavation, leveling and other prep work all affect the final price. We look at the site and quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after.
What is poor man's concrete?
People use the phrase for cheaper stand-ins for a poured slab, like packed gravel, or a pour that skips the base work. A real slab lasts because of what is under it: organic material cleared out, a compacted base and reinforcement that stays in the concrete.
How much does a 24x30 concrete slab cost?
A slab that size is often a garage or shop floor, and an enclosed slab goes down on a vapor barrier with lapped seams. It is priced by the square foot like any slab, with thickness and reinforcement moving the number most, so call us for a free estimate on yours.
