Concrete Resurfacing in Lake Elsinore That Renews Sound but Worn Concrete

A new top, the same slab

Concrete resurfacing in Lake Elsinore

We resurface structurally sound but worn concrete in Lake Elsinore with a bonded overlay instead of tearing it out.

An "overlay" is a thin new layer bonded to the concrete you already have. The slab underneath stays put and keeps doing its job, and the overlay gives it a clean, even surface again.

It suits concrete that is solid underneath but looks old and worn. Check your slab against this short list:

  • Solid underneath, with no major structural damage
  • Worn, stained, dull or rough on top
  • Minor cracks we can repair before the overlay goes on

Surfaces we resurface

We resurface driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, garage floors and commercial slabs.

The surfaces we resurface, each on its own card:

  • Driveways

Tired, stained driveway concrete gets a fresh top layer instead of a new pour.

  • Patios

A backyard slab gone dull and rough gets an even surface you want to sit out on again.

  • Walkways

Front walks and side-yard paths, so the way to the door matches the rest.

  • Pool decks

Worn decks take a cool-deck coating or a textured overlay.

  • Garage floors

We grind the floor first so the new surface bonds to concrete, not to dirt and oil.

  • Commercial slabs

Entry walks, pads and floors at shops, offices and other business spaces.

From grinder to sealer

Repair first, then the overlay

We clean and grind the surface, repair cracks and remove loose coatings, then apply the overlay and seal it.

The overlay is only as good as what is under it, so most of the work happens before it goes down. We match the prep and the overlay system to the condition of your concrete and how you use it.

surface grinding before an overlay

Every resurfacing job runs these five steps:

  1. Look and choose

We check the slab for soundness, cracks and old coatings, and pick the overlay system that fits how the surface gets used.

  2. Clean and grind

Dirt, oil and stains come off, and "diamond grinding" opens the surface so the repairs and the overlay can bond.

  3. Repair and strip

Low spots are patched so the overlay goes down on an even base. White powdery "efflorescence" is dealt with before anything goes on.

  4. Overlay and seal

The new layer goes down over the prepared slab, and a fresh coat of sealer goes on top of it.

  5. Clean up

We clean up when the work is done, so all that is left is the new surface.

Straight talk on cost

How resurfacing is priced

Resurfacing is priced by area and the overlay system, and it costs far less than tearing concrete out and replacing it.

Four things move the number the most:

  • Square footage

The size of the area to cover sets most of the price.

  • The overlay system

A plain overlay costs less than one with added color or a pattern.

  • The prep the slab needs

Crack repair, grinding and stripping old coatings add work before the overlay goes on.

  • Access

How easy the area is to reach changes the labor, and so the final price.

Typical ranges in Lake Elsinore

Straight answers

Concrete resurfacing questions we hear most

Does concrete resurfacing really work?

It does on the right slab. Resurfacing suits concrete that is structurally sound but looks old and worn, and it holds when the prep and the overlay system match the concrete's condition and use. Concrete with major structural damage may need replacement instead.

How much does it cost to resurface concrete?

In Lake Elsinore, basic resurfacing typically runs $2 to $2.50 a square foot, and $4 to $8 a square foot with colors or patterns. That is far less than tearing the concrete out and replacing it, and the estimate for your own slab is free. Our concrete repair cost guide sets out what else moves the price.

Can existing concrete be resurfaced?

Yes, as long as it is sound underneath, and the signs that decide are set out on our page on when to repair or replace concrete. Driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, garage floors and commercial slabs can all take an overlay once the minor cracks are repaired and loose coatings come off.

Can I do concrete resurfacing myself?

The overlay is the part you see; the prep decides whether it lasts. The surface has to be cleaned, ground where needed, patched and stripped of loose coatings, and the overlay system has to suit the slab. If you would rather have that done for you, call us for a free estimate.

Give worn concrete a new surface without the tear-out

Call and tell us what the surface looks like. We come out, check that the slab is sound, and tell you plainly whether an overlay is the right fix.
